Background: Dr. Torbey received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. He then completed his Neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Neurocritical Care at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Torbey received his Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts School of Public Health.
Dr. Torbey comes to the Ohio State University from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, as well as the director of both the Stroke Critical Care Program and the Neuro-intensive Care Unit.

Clinical Interests: Cerebrovascular diseases, neurocritical care, traumatic brain injury, hyperacute stroke treatment, intracerebral hemorrhage, neurosonology, and application of multimodal neuro-monitoring techniques in the ICU.
Research Interests:
Dr. Torbey’s research focuses on the application of neuroprotective strategies in traumatic brain injury, global and focal ischemia models. He is also involved in multicenter NIH-funded clinical trials for acute neurological disorders.
